As one of the key representatives of the so-called 'Mächtigen Häufleins' of Russian avant-gardists of the 19th century, Modest Mussorgsky has made music history. His famous Pictures at an Exhibition, composed for piano in 1874, alongside his opera Boris Godunow, has become a hallmark of his work. The concert will also feature Béla Bartók's Viola Concerto, his only composition of this kind, which remains unfinished.
